Ship Dynamics recently developed a roll-pitch damping fin particularly suited to high-speed trimaran configurations based on the patented interceptor technology. This type of fin design will set the stage for the next decade of high speed applications, just as interceptors replaced transom tab applications during the 90's. Its ability to operate in environments at risk of ventilation and cavitation makes this development the ultimate high-speed motion control solution. These foils are also suited to cantilevered fin and T-foil arrangements, with the possibility for high-speed hydrofoils to adopt a different technology to that based on the super cavitating foil.
