Trimaran

A typical configuration for a trimaran is represented in the above diagram with a bow mounted T-foil and a transom mounted roll/pitch interceptored foil.  This arrangement provides the ideal solution to the stabilisation of fast trimaran vessels by placing the fins at the widest part of the vessel whilst only the drag associated with the cantilevered section of the fins is the only contribution to calm water drag.  Foil ventilation is not an issue as these foils are designed to ventilate in normal operation.  The interceptor blade is split on the hull centreline to provide both roll and pitch control from the same fin. There is no speed limitation on this foil arrangement due to the onset of cavitation that plagues conventional foil sections and therefore these fins can operate on vessels for speeds well over 45 knots.
